UPND Ready for Presidential Campaign Launch in Lusaka

President HH to Launch UPND Campaign at Heroes Stadium

Preparations have been finalized for the UPND presidential campaign launch ahead of the August 2026 General Election, with the event set to take place at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

The rally, which will be officiated by President Hakainde Hichilema, is scheduled to begin at 12:00 hours. Government officials have confirmed that the venue is fully prepared to host the highly anticipated campaign event.

Youth, Sport and Arts Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe said the government engaged the Jehovah’s Witnesses after realizing that the campaign launch coincided with the church’s convention.

He explained that while the initial plan was to hold the rally outside the stadium as the convention continued inside, both parties agreed that the close proximity would likely cause disruptions. As a result, the church agreed to conduct its meeting virtually to accommodate the event.

Chileshe also urged young people to maintain peace before, during, and after the elections, warning that anyone involved in violence or the defacing of campaign materials would face legal action.
