Mundubile Pledges to Cancel Student Loan Debts
PF Candidate Mundubile Promises Relief for Graduates
Presidential candidate Brian Mundubile has pledged to cancel all outstanding student loan debts if elected into office, saying graduates should not be burdened with repayments when many are still unemployed.
Speaking on the BM8 Unfiltered programme, Mundubile said a future government under his leadership would prioritize student welfare and create better opportunities for young people after completing their studies.
He argued that it is unfair for graduates to repay bursary loans when employment opportunities remain limited, adding that his administration would introduce policies aimed at easing the financial pressure faced by former students.
Mundubile also promised to maintain meal allowances for students in higher learning institutions and increase them in line with the rising cost of living to ensure learners are adequately supported throughout their academic journey.
The presidential hopeful further stated that his government would complete development projects that he claims have stalled under the current administration, while accelerating infrastructure development across the country.
His remarks came in response to President Hakainde Hichilemaβs recent comments about what the former ruling party would seek to achieve if returned to power.
