Afunika Denies Joining Tonse Alliance Amid Rumors

Popular Zambian musician Afunika has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that he has joined the Tonse Alliance, describing the claims as false and misleading.

In a statement, the artist clarified that he is not affiliated with the Tonse Alliance and has not authorized anyone to associate his name, image, or brand with the political grouping. He stressed that the information being shared online is inaccurate and should not be treated as fact.

Afunika urged members of the public to disregard the reports and exercise caution before sharing unverified information on social media. He noted that the spread of false information can damage reputations and mislead the public, especially during the country’s political season.

The musician further warned that individuals responsible for creating and circulating the claims are acting without his consent and could face legal action. He emphasized that he has not given permission for anyone to use his identity in connection with any political organization.

Reaffirming his position, Afunika said the allegations are baseless and reiterated that his current focus remains on his music career and entertaining his fans. His clarification comes amid increased circulation of politically related misinformation on various social media platforms ahead of Zambia’s 2026 General Election.
