HH Has Zero Tolerance for Violence, Says Hamasaka

State House Warns Ruling and Opposition Supporters Against Breaking the Law

President Hakainde Hichilema has no tolerance for violence and lawlessness, according to State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka, who has warned citizens against engaging in criminal activities.

Speaking on the issue, Hamasaka said President Hichilema strongly dislikes violence and will not tolerate individuals who break the law, regardless of their political affiliation or position.

Hamasaka Issues Warning on Violence

Hamasaka emphasized that violence is an issue that should not be tested under President Hichilema’s leadership.

He said the President has consistently opposed lawlessness and expects citizens to respect the country’s laws. According to Hamasaka, anyone who engages in violent or unlawful conduct should not expect protection from the President.

His remarks come as Zambia enters an increasingly active political period, with political parties and their supporters preparing for the 2026 General Election.

Warning to Both Ruling and Opposition Supporters

The State House official also issued a warning to members and supporters of both the ruling party and opposition political parties.

Hamasaka said individuals who break the law would have to face the consequences of their actions, regardless of which political party they support.

He stressed that political affiliation should not provide protection for anyone involved in violence, intimidation or other unlawful activities.

The message is particularly relevant during campaign periods, when political competition can sometimes lead to confrontations between supporters of different parties.

Parents Urged to Guide Young People

Hamasaka further appealed to parents to continue advising their children to stay away from violence and criminal behaviour.

He encouraged families to play their part in promoting peace by warning young people against allowing themselves to be used to cause disturbances or commit offences during political activities.

The appeal comes amid concerns that young people can sometimes become involved in political confrontations, particularly during rallies, campaign activities and other gatherings.

Call for Peaceful Political Participation

Hamasaka urged citizens to respect the law and maintain peace regardless of their political beliefs.

He said political differences should not become a reason for individuals to engage in violence or criminal activities. Instead, citizens should be able to participate in political activities while respecting the rights and safety of others.

His comments reinforce the broader call for peaceful participation as political parties campaign and mobilise supporters ahead of the election.

Law Applies to Everyone

According to Hamasaka, the government’s position is that anyone who breaks the law should be held accountable.

He said President Hichilema would neither support nor defend individuals who engage in unlawful conduct simply because they belong to the ruling party or support his administration.

The warning also extends to opposition supporters, who are expected to conduct themselves within the boundaries of the law.

As Zambia continues through the political season, the emphasis on peaceful participation remains important. Political parties, candidates, supporters and ordinary citizens all have a role to play in ensuring that political competition does not result in violence.

Hamasaka’s remarks therefore serve as a warning to citizens across the political divide that political affiliation does not place anyone above the law.

The State House official has encouraged Zambians to remain peaceful, respect the law and avoid activities that could threaten public safety or undermine the country’s democratic processes.
