His friends warned him about her, but they never knew what was really happening.

Brian had three close friends who were always around him. They ate together, travelled together, and often spent weekends hanging out.

When Brian started dating Linda, everything changed.

Linda wasn’t against his friends, but she noticed that whenever they were together, they constantly made jokes about his relationship.

“Bro, you are becoming too soft,” one of them would say.

Another would laugh and tell him, “A real man shouldn’t be reporting to his girlfriend.”

At first, Brian ignored them.

But gradually, their comments started getting into his head.

One evening, Linda asked Brian to help her take her sick mother to the clinic the following morning. Brian promised he would go with her.

That same night, his friends called him.

“Forget that clinic thing. We’re going out tomorrow. You can’t keep missing everything because of a woman.”

Brian struggled with the decision.

Eventually, he chose his friends.

The following morning, Linda took her mother to the clinic alone.

Later that afternoon, Brian received a call from Linda’s younger sister.

“Where were you? Mum’s condition became serious, and Linda has been at the hospital all day.”

Brian immediately felt terrible.

He rushed to the hospital and found Linda sitting beside her mother, exhausted.

She looked at him but didn’t say anything.

Brian apologized.

Linda finally said, “I never asked you to choose between me and your friends. I only wanted you to keep your word when I needed you.”

Those words hit him harder than any argument could have.

Brian later met his friends and told them that their friendship mattered to him, but he would no longer allow them to make decisions about his relationship.

One of them apologized.

Another laughed it off.

Brian didn’t argue.

He simply walked away.

From that day forward, he learned that good friends should help you become a better person, not pressure you into abandoning the people who genuinely need you.

Linda eventually forgave him, and Brian became more intentional about balancing his relationship and friendships.

📌 Was Brian wrong for choosing his friends, or were his friends simply being normal friends who wanted his attention?
