She is one of Zambia’s most successful female musicians, widely recognized for her energetic performances and hit songs that blend R&B, Kwaito, Dancehall, Reggae, and Afro-pop. Early Life

Mampi was born in Lusaka, Zambia, and discovered her passion for music at an early age by singing in church when she was just six years old. She attended Muyooma Basic School, Libala High School, and later Springfields Coaching Centre in Lusaka.

Her childhood was marked by personal tragedy. She lost her mother at the age of 14 and her father two years later, leaving her homeless for a period and unable to continue her education. Despite these hardships, Mampi credits her strong faith and the support of close friends for helping her overcome those difficult years.

Music Career

Mampi’s music career began in the early 2000s after she was discovered by a music producer and signed her first recording deal in 2003.

She released her debut album Maloza in 2005, featuring the hit song “Sunshya,” which introduced her to a national audience. She followed it up with Chimo ni Chimo in 2007 before releasing Natural Born Star in 2012.

Over the years, Mampi has become one of Zambia’s most recognizable female performers, known for her stage presence, dance routines, and chart-topping music. She has also performed internationally, including a notable performance in Windhoek, Namibia, in 2012.

In 2015, Portuguese singer Luyanna released a version of Mampi’s hit song “Walilowelela,” featuring both Portuguese and Zambian languages, helping introduce Mampi’s music to a wider international audience.

Big Brother Africa

In 2012, Mampi represented Zambia as a celebrity contestant on Big Brother Africa StarGame (Season 7). Although she spent 21 days in the house before being evicted, her appearance significantly boosted her popularity across Africa.
