Lungu Family Set to Announce Burial Arrangements
Edgar Lungu Family Preparing Burial Program
The family of Zambiaβs sixth Republican President, Edgar Lungu, is expected to announce burial arrangements following a court ruling delivered by a South African High Court in their favor.
According to reports, the court found that the Zambian government had not sufficiently established reasons why the family’s wishes regarding burial arrangements should be overridden.

The ruling is expected to pave the way for the family to proceed with plans concerning the late former president’s final resting place. Public attention remains focused on the matter due to its national significance and the ongoing discussions surrounding the repatriation of his remains.
Meanwhile, youth advocate Tiza Mukuka has called on the government to continue engaging the Lungu family through dialogue and mutual understanding rather than pursuing further legal action.
Mukuka urged authorities to adopt a conciliatory approach, expressing hope that continued engagement could eventually lead to a resolution acceptable to both the government and the family. He emphasized the importance of respect, compromise, and national unity during the process.

The burial arrangements for the late former president are expected to be announced in the coming days as discussions surrounding the matter continue.
